Equal weights of ethane and hydrogen are mixed in an empty vessel at 25 degree celsius. Calculate the fraction of the total pressure exerted by hydrogen.

Spread the love

Let x g of each gas is mixed.

Molar mass of ethane = 30 g/mol

Molar mass of hydrogen = 2 g/mol

Mole = Given mass/Molar mass

Moles of ethane = (x/30) mol

Moles of hydrogen = (x/2) mol

So, the fraction of total pressure exerted by hydrogen is 15:16.
